Sarah Merkle Elected Editor in Chief of Volume 62

On February 11, 2010, the members of the 2009-2010 South Carolina Law Review elected Sarah E. Merkle as Editor in Chief for Volume 62. Sarah will serve as the eighty-second Editor in Chief in the seventy-four year history of the South Carolina Law Review.

Merkle stated: "As South Carolina's premier legal publication, the South Carolina Law Review plays an important role not only for the School of Law and the state, but also for the region and the nation ... . I am excited about the opportunity to continue furthering the Law Review's success."

She further noted: "Initiatives such as Peer Review and the Fourth Circuit Survey have served to promote the Law Review regionally and nationally ... . As Editor in Chief, I will work to build on the progress made in each of these areas and ensure that the Law Review is known for making innovative contributions to the legal community."

Sarah graduated cum laude from Bob Jones University in 2000, where she majored in Business Education. In 2004, she received a Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Public Address magna cum laude from Bob Jones University. At the law school, Sarah has continued to excel in the classroom. She has earned multiple CALI awards and is ranked in the top 10% of her class. Sarah also serves the school by working as a Teaching Assistant in the Legal Writing Clinic. On the Law Review, her work has been nothing but exceptional. She has received the Ace of Spades award for her impeccable editing, and she is the author of a case summary that will be published in Volume 61's Fourth Circuit Survey.
